Joe Camel and his Big Tobacco crew crash landed in front of the US Judicial Panel on Mul-District Litigation. Big Tobacco had sought to convince the panel that all cases filed or removed to federal court should all be sent to multi-district litigation.
What does that mean? Joe and the Tobacco guys wanted to try and slow down and control the litigation flowing from the Engle group of cases. This means that the thousands of victims injured by Big Tobacco through manipulation of cigarettes and through less than honest marketing, will be allowed to have their cases decided in state court and in front of their own judges.
Today, the court spoke out for injured victims of smoking.
